Frequently Asked Questions
We are a nonprofit company that delivers furniture and other home furnishings to individuals and families who are in need and who have secured housing, such as formerly homeless people and mothers with children escaping domestic violence.
Individuals, hotels and corporations donate gently used furniture and other home furnishings to us. We warehouse these items until a community social service partner identifies qualified individuals and families in need. Community partners are asked to:
Provide intake and assess the needs of individuals and families in their service; Attest that the individual or family has been displaced or homeless within the past 60 days; and,
Whenever possible, participate in the delivery of the home furnishings.*
larger churches and other large organizations are asked to handle deliveries with their own volunteers for those they refer. H2H provides the items needed.
Any charitable or government organization can become a community partner. We ask them to adhere to a set of guidelines that ensure the home furnishings will go to individuals and families who would fit our mission. Groups like One80Place, My Sisters House, Origins SSVF, veterans services, churches and synagogues would qualify as partners.
Yes. We require a referral, because we do not have the staff or expertise to determine need or qualification.
Additionally, by requiring a referral, we are assured that the person being serviced has a relationship with qualified personnel able to assist them in all areas of need.
We are unable to accept referrals from individuals, neighbors, family, friends, etc.
Our mission is to provide essential home furnishings to individuals and families, who are referred by community partners, to transform their new house to a new “home”. We believe this transformation is key for those coming from distressed situations to lift themselves to a brighter future. So, previously homeless, recently displaced families and women and children escaping domestic violence are typical recipients.
Unfortunately, we are unable to help those with bed bugs - we cannot risk the exposure to our volunteers, inventory or other clients.
The community partner will complete our referral form with basic information and send it to us.
We will review the referral form and determine if we are able to assist and notify the community partner who referred you.
If we are able to assist, we will then contact you by phone and schedule your delivery.
